4 Vital Life Lessons I Learned from Ants

A lot has been said about the ants and lessons that can be learned from their activities. Ants have been used in kids stories as well as in fables. For me it's more than just a story,it's a lesson. It's life. King Solomon,in the Holy
Scriptures with all his wisdom, spoke highly of ants when he said:"Go to the ant,you sluggard;consider its ways and be wise."(Prov.6:6 NIV)

I have examined ants personally as they carry out their activities. I've read stories and experiment about ants and came out with these 4 Vital Life Lessons I Learned From Ants. They are:

  1. Ants are not lazy
  2. Ants never quit.
  3. Ants are focused
  4. Ants save
Now let me explain each of these lessons and what I learned.

Lesson #1: Ants are not lazy.
They keep themselves busy doing something. They are industrious. Always on the task they want to accomplished. Ants work had. This is a sharp contrast to what we see some individual do. They are there busy doing nothing and expect things to change like that. As Barack Obama said: “the best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don't wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” Ants have done well in this area. Get up and do something. Fill yourself with hope.

Lesson #2: Ants never quit.
Ants always find a way to get to their destination, to reach their goals. It doesn't matter how many times they are distracted, how long it takes, or how many obstacle they encounter. Their attitude is set, keep trying but never quit. How many times have you tried and failed? How many people have said “NO” to you? So have you given up on your dream to succeed in life? No,don't quit. Hang in there. Try again and again. My advice comes in the words of Les Brown: “when life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up,you can get up. Let your reason get you back up”.

Lesson #3: Ants are focus.
Ants have aims. They have goals. One of it is “to avoid famine”. They know what to do in every season. They remember winter in summer and work to avoid famine. I don't know which season you are emotionally, physically, financially or relationally. You've got to get your focus intact. You can't be focused if you don't have goals. The beginning of success is setting goals. You can't make it in life if you don't have something to reach out for. I like the way Jim Rohn puts it: “the ultimate reason for setting goals is to entice you to become the person it takes to achieve them”.

Lesson #4: Ants save.
Ants work hard to find food to eat but they don't eat all they find. They eat some, store some. In fact, they save. What a lesson for those who believe in the opposite! “Many people take no care of their money till they come nearly to the end of it...”say Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. There are always many reasons people give for not saving but very few reasons on why savings should be done. No matter how small just set aside some from your earnings. SAVE. We all know the popular saying: “LIFE IS SHORT”. But I want to add, also that LIFE IS UNPREDICTABLE. That's why in prosperous time remember the lean time, and in the lean time don't forget the prosperous time.

So,that's all 4 vital life lessons I learned from ants. The ants are not lazy and we have no valid reason to be. They never quit trying to reach their aims, their goals for the season. Their goals is their mirror, they are focused and they save, thinking winter in summer. You too,let your reasons for living be higher than your reasons for failure and you will overcome your obstacles in LIFE.
